Beginning.
Vanilla Ninja was created in the year 2002. First there was Maarja Kivi who recommended Lenna Kuurmaa. But still they needed someone to write songs. That someone was Sven Lõhmus. He picked 2 more girls to the band: Piret Järvis and Katrin Siska. Together they made songs ,,Purunematu'' and ,,Nagu Rockstaar''. The last on has a video. But these songs didn't impress people.
Breaktrough
Then they made song ,,Club Kung-Fu''. What got Ninjas to the Estonian Eurovision. They didn't got to the Eurovision because but the were peoples favorite. Their flight started at that moment.
First Album
Soon they unleashed the album ,,Vanilla Ninja'' what also has the songs ,,Purunematu'', ,,Nagu Rockstaar'' and ,, Club Kung-Fu''. The author of many words was Piret Järvis.
Good-Bye Estonia, Hello Germany
Some time later the girls had chance to go outside Estonia, to Germany. So the girls were given over to David Brandes. Though the girls were most of the time in Germany they were doing very well.
First Singles.
In winter 2003 they came out with a single ,,Tough Enough'' what brought Vanilla Ninja a little fame in Estonia and Germany. Soon, in the year 2004 came out the singles ,, Don't Go Too Fast'' and ,, Liar''.
Second Album and concert
In june 2004 they gave out another album. It was named ,, Traces Of Sadness'' (TOS) and it had 12 songs + 2 mixed songs and videos. Later came out ,,Traces Of Sadness limited edition''. At the same day it came out it was a big day for the fans... the first Vanilla Ninja Estonian concert. The concert was awesome. Millions of fanstuff tents and a fantent, loads of warmup singers and of course the ninjas. Concert had fire, rockets and even the drummer had his own solo what was really cool. Before the end he rose up with his drum about 10-15 meters.
Shock. Maarja Kivi is leaving the band
But that concert was the last for Maarja. Next day, July the 6th came out "Kroonika". On its frontpage was pregnant Maarja and her husband Renee. The story talked about Maarja being pregnat, how she told her parents, that she's engaded to Renee and that she's leaving the band beacuse she didn't like that lifestyle anymore.
What next? 3 ninjas?
Now there was 3 ninjas performing and some of fans could guess that that's the way it's gonna be now, but an article, in ,,Õhtuleht'', appeared. It said that ninjas have made a new video. With new member, who they wouldn't tell. This gave two options: Charlene Rennit or Triinu Kivilaan. Fans guessed one and the other until the next newspaper appeared. The new member wasn't a secret no more.

And it was Triinu Kivilaan because she looked more like Maarja and her voice matched better with the ninjas. Actually there were people who didn't notice the person changed. At that time Triinu was 15. She was brunette but to get in the band she had to change her hair color to blonde. She also had take part in the competition ,,Miss Estonia'' and she did very well: Second Princess. Some fans had hard time to get used to her but some didn't.
New singles
Soon came out the single ,, When The Indians Cry'' though the song was already known from the album Traces Of Sadness but it was the first video with Triinu. The video was filmed in Mallorca and it took 4 days to finish the video. After that ninjas had pretty tight activity. They recorded new songs and again they thought of a new single. And another single came out, named ,,Blue Tattoo''. Its video was made in Island. Katrin did get a flu but she got over it and it was fine. Soon stories started to move around that a new single is coming again. It was named "I know" what came out in February 2005. They also made a video for it. Few weeks later there was a new single came out "I Know Unlugged" version. Same song but with originial instruments. The video was calm also.
The Longwaited Album
In March 2005 album ,,Blue Tattoo'' was unleashed in Germany. It was the third album from the ninjas, but that time no longer with Maarja but with Triinu. The album was unleashed in Estonia 11th April. Vanilla Ninja had a concerttour ,,Blue Tattoo'' also. And in process of that ninjas and whole music world found out that their producer David Brandes had bouth loads of their albums what eliminated their all albums and singles out of Germany's standigs for 3 months. After the tour ninjas came to Estonia. Piret, Lenna and Triinu for example visited the show ,, Tähed Muusikas'' but they visitied loads of places more. Their new manager was Sebastian Lang but in time they said no to him also
Eurosvision 2005
One fan to another the stories spreaded that this year ninjas are going to represent Suisse on Eurovision and one day media investigated the thing. And yes Piret told that they had an offer what was hard to say no. Time passed and it was time to go to Kiev. They did exelent performing and they were trough the semifinal. 2 days later the final was starting. Ninjas made again exelent performing with their song ,, Cool Vibes''. First after Estonia giving them 12 point they were in the lead but unfortunately they fall to 8th place. But it was pretty good anyway. Like it was first time after many years when Suisse got right to the Final. And no mention that Estonia with Suntribe didn't got to final
Eurosong ,,Cool Vibes'' on single
Soon new single came out, Cool Vibes was it named. It never came to sale in Estonia but on the single there was no video either. But after time passed we started to see the video on Viva. But no it wasn't in Africa with big white tiger . It was just montered video and showing Lenna singing : Cool Vibes why don't you kill me and clips from earlier videos. But then new scandal was coming. It was someone elses video but luckily it stayed quiet and the video is still on Viva
Blue Tattoo - Limited Edition
Not long after that a new album came on sale. It was called ,,Blue Tattoo - Limited Edition''. It contained all songs from album Blue Tattoo and all kind of mixes and unplugged version of these songs.
Estonian Concert
Rumors had that soon there's gonna be Estonian concert and on 4th July Lenna confirmed that 19th November it's gonna happen. Days went by but no commercials, no tickets. What was happening, fans got little nervous, is there no concert afterall? And yes it seemed so until one day you could read the news that concert is on 10th December. And that wasn't a rumor no more. You could see the poster on websites and ninjas gave a presconverence where the confirmed that. THey visited loads of TV-and radio shows. On 3th November tickets came on sale. And the tickets were bought as soon as anyone could.
Byebye Triinu.
At the beginning of the year 2006 some rumors started to fly. It said that Triinu is leaving band. Few days later it was confirmed offcialy. Triinu said that she wants to finish school and start a solo career. These were the main reasons. Lenna, Piret and Katrin decided to continue like that and they are not going to search for a new member
